Youth Gathering In NYC and Anti-Wrinkle Cream by Carmelites To Be Discussed on CatholicTV Talk Show

On Tuesday, August 18th the Catholic Thrive Conference will be discussed on the CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day”. David Sloan, Co-Founder and Director of Catholic Thrive will participate in a live interview on “This is the Day”. The upcoming conference will feature Archbishop Timothy Dolan, Matthew Kelly, Fr. Stan Fortuna, CFR, actress Jessica Rey and others.

Also on “This is the Day” will be Brother Dennis Wyrzykowski. He will be talking about the Teresian Carmelites and how they use skin care products to fund ministry to the poor and the philanthropic endeavors of the Teresian Carmelites.

The upcoming Catholic Thrive Conference will take place during Labor Day weekend at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom. Catholic Thrive's mission is to bring singles and young adults out of the isolation of modern life and into the family life of the Church.

Catholic Thrive’s main concern is that young adults, particularly in college and the years following, are leaving the Catholic Church. Single people are now the largest group of adults in America, comprising 60-70 percent of the adults in the U.S.

Because this is a very recent phenomenon, most dioceses and parishes have limited resources available for young adult ministry, and even less for singles ministry. Catholic Thrive helps those who are doing these ministries on a local level by providing them with resources targeted to their particular needs. One conference attendant, Cami Seretti, wrote,

"Your conference completely changed my life. Before then I didn't have the information I needed to really understand our Creator's love for me and I had no Catholic circle of friends. Both were granted to me in just a weekend and I have never been the same since.”

Last summer the Teresian Carmelites faced difficult financial circumstances. That’s when one of what Brother Dennis Wyrzykowski calls “God-incidences” connected them with a local scientist, whose work included patented research into a compound in the human heart that has been found to also fight wrinkles. The story will be told on “This is the Day”.

These guests can be seen on Tuesday, August 18th live at 10:30AM (EST) on CatholicTV where available (rebroadcast at 8PM). The show will also be streamed simultaneously at www.CatholicTV.com and will be available on the site’s archives starting Tuesday night. All videos at the website are viewable in full-screen. Former Power Ranger and Actress to Be Featured on "This is the Day" Along With Catholic Opera Singer

Be sure to see Jessica Rey (a Catholic actress best known for her television role as the White Power Ranger) in a live interview on the CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day”. Also on the show will be Kitty Cleveland, a Catholic musician and opera singer.

The show will be viewable at CatholicTV at 10:30AM (EST) on Friday, May 29th.

Jessica Rey is a Catholic actress and also the designer of a modest vintage swimwear line. She has also been featured on several television series on CBS, NBC, and others. Her swimwear can be seen at reyswimwear.com. Her website asks of swimwear “who says it has to be itsy-bitsy?”

Also on “This is the Day”, in an in-studio interview, will be Kitty Cleveland. Kitty has been singing soprano for over 20 years. She has extensive stage experience with the New Orleans Opera. Throughout high school and college, Kitty studied voice in the classical style. During a painful family crisis in which her father was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to prison for 10 years, Kitty turned to faith. Now, Kitty is devoted to Christian music and opera. Kitty will also be featured in a musical performance on this year’s telethon on CatholicTV.

Great happenings at CatholicTV

I am so amazed at all the wonderful work that Catholics all over the world are doing to promote the Good News. In just the past half hour I spoke with Thomas Wykes who is hosting Springfest 2009 in the Nashville area, in late May. There will be great speakers like Deanna Favre and musicians for a celebration of Catholic faith. ( www.springtimeoffaith.org) Bishop Colby of Nashville will celebrate Mass.

Then I spoke with Jessica Rey who will be on This is the Day, you might know her as the White Power Ranger, Jessica is writing a book called "Decent Exposure." and she has an incredibly elegant, and modest swimwear line inspired by Audrey Hepburn movies. You can learn more about that at http://www.jessicarey.com/. Jessica appeared in Rosary Stars which was produced by Family Theater -we aired it on CatholicTV.

There are few more people that I spoke to in the past half hour but more on that later......
