Mass Celebrating Mother Teresa Feast and New Mother Teresa U.S. Postage Stamp To Air on CatholicTV


On September 5th, CatholicTV will air a special Mass to celebrate Mother Teresa’s feast day and will include the unveiling of a new U.S. postage stamp with her likeness on it.

The Mass will air on September 5th at CatholicTV.com and on CatholicTV cable outlets at 8PM (Eastern) and will be rebroadcast on September 6th at noon.

The Mass will take place at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States will celebrate the Mass and give the homily.

According to CatholicVoteAction.org, over 146,000 people signed a petition asking the U.S. Postmaster General to continue with plans to issue the stamp after certain groups opposed the issuance of the postage stamp.

Saints Series on CatholicTV Examines Mother Teresa, St. Francis and Other Saints




Beginning July 6th, CatholicTV will air a mini-series looking at the lives and spirituality of Catholic saints.

The series is entitled “The Saints Always Belong to the Present” (The Saints) and is hosted by Msgr. Anthony Mancini from the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island.

In this series, Msgr. Mancini discusses short biographies of the various saints including quotes from prominent hagiographers. The program includes musical performances by the Gregorian Concert Choir of the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Providence, RI; Msgr. Mancini is the founder and Director of the choir.

The Saints examines the lives and spirituality of St. Peter, St. Paul, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Mary. In an engaging manner, Fr. Mancini shares the many ways in which the saints are relevant to our contemporary times, he also makes frequent references to scripture during the program.

Msgr. Anthony Mancini completed his studies for the priesthood at the Pontifical North American College in Rome and the Catholic University of America in Washington DC. He is the Administrator of Holy Cross Parish in Providence. In 1990, he succeeded the late Dr. C. Alexander Peloquin as Music Director at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, after having served as assistant conductor of the famed Peloquin Chorale. He also serves as Rector of the Cathedral.

After completing musical studies, Msgr. Mancini pursued sabbatical studies in 1994 at the Royal School of Church Music in London. The Gregorian Concert Choir has performed widely in the Northeast and in private audience for Pope John Paul II, as well as on radio and television.

The Saints will air during the weekly programming block “Catholic Saints and Lay People.” The Saints will air on CatholicTV.com and CatholicTV during the month of July and August.

Weekly Show on CatholicTV Features Friend of Mother Teresa and John Paul II- Fr. Jeff Bayhi



Each week, CatholicTV airs a show called “A Closer Walk” hosted by Father Jeff Bayhi. Fr. Bayhi worked with Blessed Teresa of Calcutta for 7 years and administered the last rites to her. He was also a friend of Pope John Paul II and administered the last rites to the Pope after he had been shot.



A Closer Walk features Fr. Bayhi discussing the faith and talking about real world examples of life and of living the faith. A Closer Walk intends to reach out to those who remain disconnected from the mainline church.



A Closer Walk hopes to help viewers deal with the realities of day-to-day living by discussing real-world, everyday issues. The show aims to offer hope to viewers through reflections on the weekly Mass readings.



Father Jeff Bayhi is a priest of the Diocese of Baton Rouge. He received his Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling from Graduate Theological Foundation in Donaldson, Indiana. Currently, Father Bayhi serves as pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary and its mission church, Our Lady of the Assumption in Clinton, Louisiana in addition to his role as President of Closer Walk Ministries.



Father Bayhi has written several books including: "Then Comes the Morning" and "Paved with Souls", which was written on his experiences working with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. He has also recorded a modern-day interpretation of Our Lord's Passion through the Stations of the Cross with world-renowned recording artist, Aaron Neville. The CD is entitled Doing it Their Own Way .

Honoring Blessed Teresa of Calcutta


Tomorrow marks the 12th anniversary (September 5, 1997)of the death of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. We honor her in our thoughts and prayers. This tireless Roman Catholic sister who worked on behalf of the poor is an inspiration to us all.
