Nursing Students Will Discuss How to Prevent Falling on CatholicTV Talk Show

According to a recent study, falls and fall-related injuries have been the leading cause of injury deaths among older adults. Because of this, 2 students from Connell School of Nursing at Boston College , Kristin Stobo and Kathleen Manly, will appear on the CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day” on April 13th to discuss various methods to prevent falls.

This is the Day airs at 10:30AM ET at CatholicTV.com and on CatholicTV. The show is rebroadcast at 7:30PM.

Studies show that balance, flexibility, and strength training not only improve mobility, but also reduce the risk of falling. Statistics show that most older adults do not exercise regularly, and 35% of people over the age of 65 do not participate in any leisure physical activity.

Also being interviewed on This is the Day will be Fr. Vito Buonanno. Fr. Vito, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, is the Director of Pilgrimages at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. He will discuss pilgrimages at the Basilica, which is the largest Catholic Church in North America and one of the 10 largest churches in the world. It is a National Marian Shrine and pilgrimage Church dedicated to Mary and peoples from countries around the world. It has over 70 chapels and oratories . CatholicTV airs a program "Gospel in Mosaic" which was recorded at the National Shrine.
