30th Anniversary of Death of Fulton Sheen Mass to Be Celebrated By Archbishop Timothy Dolan at CatholicTV.com and on CatholicTV

On Wednesday, December 9th, CatholicTV will air the Mass celebrating the 30th anniversary of the death of Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen. The Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York and Archbishop Timothy Dolan will be the principal celebrant and homilist.

The Archbishop Fulton John Sheen Foundation is the official promoter of the Cause for the Canonization of Archbishop Sheen. CatholicTV supports the foundation's mission to introduce a new generation to the holy priest, missionary and communicator, Fulton J. Sheen, and to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. John Monahan narrated a retrospective of Archbishop Sheen which may be seen at the following site http://www.catholictv.com/videos/videos.aspx?videoID=343

Archbishop Sheen once served as the Director of the Pontifical Mission Society, the Propagation of the Faith. During this assignment, in 1951, he began what is known as the Mission Rosary. The rosary is said in the usual way; the beads are what make it distinct. The decades are represented by different colors, each standing for an area of the world: green for Africa, red for the Americas, white for Europe, blue is for Oceania (the island countries in the pacific) and the amber is for the Asian continent. When we pray the Mission Rosary, we pray for the people of those areas and the missionaries that serve them. Archbishop Sheen used to say that "...when you pray the World Mission Rosary, you've embraced the whole world in prayer."
Please join CatholicTV in honoring Servant of God, Archbishop Fulton Sheen during the Mass which will stream at www.CatholicTV.com and simultaneously on CatholicTV at 8PM Eastern Time.

CatholicTV regularly airs special events in the Catholic Church. More information on December Church programming on CatholicTV can be found at http://www.catholictv.com/features/default.aspx?featureStoryID=36

Youth Gathering In NYC and Anti-Wrinkle Cream by Carmelites To Be Discussed on CatholicTV Talk Show

On Tuesday, August 18th the Catholic Thrive Conference will be discussed on the CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day”. David Sloan, Co-Founder and Director of Catholic Thrive will participate in a live interview on “This is the Day”. The upcoming conference will feature Archbishop Timothy Dolan, Matthew Kelly, Fr. Stan Fortuna, CFR, actress Jessica Rey and others.

Also on “This is the Day” will be Brother Dennis Wyrzykowski. He will be talking about the Teresian Carmelites and how they use skin care products to fund ministry to the poor and the philanthropic endeavors of the Teresian Carmelites.

The upcoming Catholic Thrive Conference will take place during Labor Day weekend at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom. Catholic Thrive's mission is to bring singles and young adults out of the isolation of modern life and into the family life of the Church.

Catholic Thrive’s main concern is that young adults, particularly in college and the years following, are leaving the Catholic Church. Single people are now the largest group of adults in America, comprising 60-70 percent of the adults in the U.S.

Because this is a very recent phenomenon, most dioceses and parishes have limited resources available for young adult ministry, and even less for singles ministry. Catholic Thrive helps those who are doing these ministries on a local level by providing them with resources targeted to their particular needs. One conference attendant, Cami Seretti, wrote,

"Your conference completely changed my life. Before then I didn't have the information I needed to really understand our Creator's love for me and I had no Catholic circle of friends. Both were granted to me in just a weekend and I have never been the same since.”

Last summer the Teresian Carmelites faced difficult financial circumstances. That’s when one of what Brother Dennis Wyrzykowski calls “God-incidences” connected them with a local scientist, whose work included patented research into a compound in the human heart that has been found to also fight wrinkles. The story will be told on “This is the Day”.

These guests can be seen on Tuesday, August 18th live at 10:30AM (EST) on CatholicTV where available (rebroadcast at 8PM). The show will also be streamed simultaneously at www.CatholicTV.com and will be available on the site’s archives starting Tuesday night. All videos at the website are viewable in full-screen.
