Innocence, Sex, and Faith- The Story of “Emily’s Hope” Will be Told By Author On CatholicTV Talk Show

On Tuesday, December 15th, Ellen Gable, author of “Emily’s Hope” will be featured in an interview on the CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day”. “Emily’s Hope” is the story of a young woman's journey and includes the battle to remain chaste, Biblical wisdom, and even references to Papal encyclicals, all intertwined in an exciting story from a young woman’s perspective.

“Emily’s Hope” received an Honorable Mention for Religious Fiction in the 2006 Independent Publisher Book Awards. Mark Cassanto called it a “challenging book” because of “the clear message that comes through challenging those who may be sitting on the fence with their views on LIFE, FAMILY, and FIDELITY.” Damon Owens, speaker, founder, New Jersey Natural Family Planning Association commented that the book was "Compelling...a real page turner."

Ellen Gable is also the author of “In Name Only”, published in June 2009. She has written various articles for Catholic magazines and websites. She and her husband, James Hrkach, are also the creators of the Family Life cartoon which illustrates Catholic family life, a topic she knows much about as the mother of five sons ages 10to 22.

The “Test Tube Babies” episode explores the moral problems with using in-vitro fertilization, and considers how Catholics should respect the beautiful, God-given designs of human sexuality so that new members of the human family always enter the world through the marital embrace of their parents.

During the month of October, the weekly programming block “Body Matters” will include episodes about abortion, euthanasia and of course, in-vitro fertilization. Rev. Roger J. Landry hosts eight episodes on the topic of the Theology of the Body produced by the North American Catholic Educational Programming Foundation. Steve Ray, a.k.a. “Jerusalem Jones” was a Protestant for 37 years until he and his wife converted to the Catholic faith in 1994. He studied biology at Harvard and also studied Theology and Bioethics at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Rome. On “This is the Day”, Fr. Landry will discuss “Becoming a Real Man of God”. In these writings, Fr. Landry touches on several hot topics. Speaking of the problems of same-sex marriage, Fr. Landry wrote that, “as the push for same-sex marriage becomes stronger, marriage is conceived as a potentially man-less or woman-less institution, one in which a husband or a wife is optional rather than required.”

This September, CatholicTV will air Fr. Landry’s television series on John Paul II’s teachings on the Theology of the Body.

These guests can be seen on Friday, July 31st live at 10:30AM (EST) on CatholicTV where available (rebroadcast at 8PM).
